Downtown Development Authority

Metro Cruise

The Wyoming Downtown Development Authority (DDA) was formed in December 1999, in accordance with Act 197 of 1975. The Wyoming City Council wanted a private group of business people, having a stake in the area, to provide a greater emphasis on planning and development in downtown Wyoming, along 28th Street (M-11) between Division and Byron Center Avenue, than had been feasible to date.  Under Act 197, the DDA receives the City, and other public agencies, increases in taxes in the downtown projects to arrest blight and improve the downtown area. The DDA has been very active as the project list indicates.

Classic ConvenienceClassic Convenience in Wyoming Town Center

The City of Wyoming DDA has diligently worked to develop a marketing strategy that positions Wyoming Town Center, the 28th Street corridor between Division Avenue and Byron Center Avenue, to better position the area for retail and business activity. This strategy includes a new positioning line called ‘Classic Convenience' meant to reinforce the areas dynamic mix of products and services, great front door access to 250+ stores, and locally-focused businesses.

The new positioning is meant to develop a sense of place for this area that has seen significant change in recent years and re-develop a relationship with both Wyoming residents and the thousands of Greater Grand Rapids
