Utility Fees & Charges

The Treasurer’s Office bills and collects the following:

Construction Water Fee

All new construction is accessed a fee of $55.00, which allows the builder to use water without a meter for up to (60) days.

Public Works will bill for time and materials plus 25% overhead for all service taps where the contractor performs the majority of the work.

Deposits

Hydrant Usage Multiple Days:  $113.76 (plus metered usage; plus 100%)
Hydrant Use Backflow Preventer:  $500.00
Pool Filling/Hydrant Permit (1) Day:  $54.80
Renter Deposit:  $150.00

 

 

Emergency Services

Emergency services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. To request emergency water turn-off due to a meter leak, water main break or fire hydrant leak, call 616.530.7389 during normal business hours.  After 5:00 PM or on weekends and holidays, please call 616.530.7300.

Fines

Unauthorized use of the water system is subject to a fine of $500.00.  This includes, but is not limited to, the failure to use a proper hydrant backflow preventer and unmetered water use.

Fire Lines & Charges

A permit has to be obtained from the Engineering Department for fire lines.  A $75.00 deposit shall be collected for all fire line connections.  Quarterly charges based on size are billed as follows:

Late Charges

A penalty of 10% of the current charges for water and sewer will be added to any bill paid after the due date on the bill.

System Development Charge

The charge is based on tap size and is applied to all new connections to the water system.  The fee does not apply to connections for fire suppression.

Water Service Installation (Tap)

The Public Works Department makes taps to the water system. Fees must be paid at the Water Customer Service Department before the tap can be made. The Public Works Department requires a minimum of three days notice for Miss Dig to schedule a tap. Costing as indicated below, or actual charges based on time and material plus 25% overhead billed by Public Works. Taps greater than 2” require a $75.00 deposit.

Water & Sewer Charges

Water is $1.20 per 100 cubic feet. Sewer is $2.10 per 100 cubic feet. For the three quarters following the winter quarter a 15% factor is applied towards the winter quarter rate. Industrial and commercial properties are computed on actual water use per quarter. Customers connected only to the sewer system will pay a flat charge of $52.26 per quarter. A quarterly ready to serve charge based on meter size is also billed as follows:
